National Museum of African American History-- Part 2: Newest Museum on the National Mall

And, a good place for the museum to be.  In 1963, a quarter million came together for the pivotal March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom.  And, of course, the Lincoln memorial, site of Dr. martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream" speech.

The vast array of artifacts include several of Harriet Tubman's life.  An escaped slave who brought hundreds through the Underground Railroad.

Let's Go Ahead With a National Mall World War I Monument

The Liberty Memorial tower and World War I museum in Kansas City is all well and done.  However, it is time to press ahead with what our last surviving serviceman of the war, Frank Buckles, wanted done before his death.

And, that would be to erect a monument to our World War I veterans on the National Mall in Washington, D.C..

Kansas City Closer to Being Home of U.S. World War I Memorial in 2012

Kansas City, Missouri, is one step closer to being the official home of the national memorial of the country as well as official host of the war's centennial events to take place 2014-2018.  (The U.S. involvement in the war, however, was 1917-1918.

The House of representatives resolution passed.

Some felt that the World War I memorial should be on the National Mall in Washington, D.C..

Kansas City already has the National World War I Museum at the Liberty Memorial, a cylindrical tower on top of a hill dedicated in 1926.
